John Anderson arrived at Rovers on transfer deadline day 2004 as Kevan Broadhurst and Russell Osman looked to rescue the Gas from relegation to the Conference. Anderson learned his trade in his native Scotland at Greenock Morton, making 97 appearances there. A move to Scottish Division One club Livingston was sealed in June 2000, he was a virtual ever-present in the Livingston side that gained promotion to the Scottish Premier League the following season, but only played a handful of games in the top division. Hull City brought Anderson south of the border on a free transfer in 2002, and in his first year became a fixture in the Tigers’ team, however injury cost him his place in 2003/4, and he accepted the move to the Gas.
