16. Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams was Ray Graydon’s final signing, initially brought to the club on loan from Hull in November 2003, the tiny winger was snapped up on a permanent deal after scoring against his employers. Ryan began his career with home town club Mansfield before a long spell in the reserves at Tranmere. A move to Chesterfield in November 1999 gave the player his first real break in professional football playing 79 league games and scoring 13 goals.

His form at the Spireites earned Williams a £150k move to big spending Hull City in the summer of 2001, despite the fee he only played 52 games in two and a half seasons, and Hull boss Peter Taylor allowed Ryan to move on. New Rovers boss, Ian Atkins, has made it known that Williams is available on a free transfer, so Ryan’s future again appears to be unclear.
