Young midfield player Craig Disley was one of many players brought to the club by Ian Atkins in the summer of 2004. Disley had spent his entire career prior to his Rovers move at Mansfield Town. The Stags were promoted from Division Three in 2001/2 with Disley and Liam Lawrence starring in midfield, and Craig remained pivotal in the team that was relegated from Division Two in 2002/3. The following season, however, Disley became a bit part player, spending much time on the bench, although he still managed to score two goals against Rovers in September 2003.
