Aaron Lescott initially joined Rovers on loan from Stockport for the last eight games of the 2003/4 season. The player who Ian Atkins describes as a 'dog', was expected to join on a permanent basis during the close season, however Lescott was unable to reach an agreement to leave Edgeley Park and the deal was considered dead. Despite this, following the encouraging start to the 2004/5 campaign Ian Atkins was allowed to sign Lescott on a six month contract.

Aaron began his career at Aston Villa, making only one apperance as a sub in the FA Cup. A move to Sheffield Wednesday for £100k followed where the midfielder played 47 league games. Stockport was Lescott's next destination costing County £75k. Lescott enjoyed regular first team football at Edgeley Park making 72 league apperances and scoring just the once in almost three years there.
