Wales International Paul Trollope signed for Rovers in the summer of 2004. The adopted Welshmen began his career at hometown club Swindon, but was unable to make the breakthrough into the first team, and it took a move to Torquay in 1992 to give him his first taste of league action. Derby boss Jim Smith soon snapped up the left-sided midfielder for £100k, and he became a key member of the team that was promoted from Division One in 1995/6 and survived in the Premiership in 1996/7.

Big-spending Fulham paid £600k for the Welsh International’s services in 1997. Trollope helped the Cottagers out of Division Two in 1998/9 and was involved as they won Division One in 2000/1. A short spell at Coventry turned sour, and Trollope was again on the move to Northampton. In recent seasons Paul has become Northampton Captain and was even involved in last seasons Wales International away in Azerbaijan.
