Bristol Rovers manager Paul Trollope is "very much hopeful" of making Paul Heffernan and Daniel Jones his first two summer signings."We're in detailed discussions with both Paul Heffernan and Daniel Jones about coming back to the club," Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol.

Both players had successful spells on loan with Rovers last season.

Striker Heffernan and defender Jones have been released by Doncaster and Wolves respectively.

Trollope added: "Negotiations with those two are ongoing and I couldn't tell you at the moment which way it will go.

"But we're very much hopeful of securing both. We're in discussions with a number of players."

Heffernan, a former Bristol City player, scored four goals in 11 league games for Rovers while Jones made 17 appearances.

Trollope revealed he is now playing a leading role in dealing with players' agents following the departure of director of football Lennie Lawrence.

He said: "I'm dealing with agents and trying to do deals now which is an interesting and entertaining part of the job.

"Lennie has taken a lot of that off me over the years. I've been inundated with agents who have the answer to all our problems."
