No break for Andersen

Most European leagues have a recess in their league programme during the festive season whereas in England the football goes on with a packed programme of fixtures over the winter period.

Denmark Under-21 International Andersen told the Bristol Evening Post: "The Danish Superliga finished last weekend and everyone there is on holiday now.

"But I think it's quite special here that you play over the Christmas period and right throughout the winter. It's a tradition and I enjoy playing in those games.

"You never know when the weather is going to be like it is at the moment. Last year the freeze happened in early January and this year it's come early, so you'd never know when to take a winter break.

"The Danish league doesn't start until late March and you get a long pre-season, but there's a different passion for the game over here. I think that's what makes English football so good to be involved in and I'm really enjoying it. I wouldn't change it."
