Patterson keen on increased second string action

Bristol Rovers assistant manager Darren Patterson believes reserve games could be the key to a fitter squad. Patterson indicated the club are planning more reserve games this season in a bid to maintain the fitness of players not involved in regular first team action. "I think it's important we play more games, and we are looking at the possibility of playing games once a week or once a fortnight to fit in with our first team fixtures," he told the club's official website. "However, while we want to play more games we have to make sure we have seven fit lads on the bench for first team matches. "We can't risk picking up injuries with the size of our squad so we have to strike a happy medium."
