Patterson set for new Rovers role

Bristol Rovers are set to confirm Darren Patterson as their new assistant manager, BBC Radio Bristol understands.The 40-year-old former Northern Ireland international is expected to be handed the newly created role as number two to manager Paul Trollope.

Patterson joined Rovers as head of youth in June 2009 after a spell as Oxford United manager.

Rovers are restructuring after terminating the contract of director of football Lennie Lawrence.
