Penney keen to keep Hoskins

Hoskins fired a 52nd-minute equaliser after Will Grigg had given the Saddlers an early lead, he then set up substitute Jo Kuffour to volley Rovers into the lead, only for old-boy Aaron Lescott to stun his former team-mates with an 84th minute leveller.

Penney said: "We only have two experienced strikers at the club in Will and Jo and I want to add to that by signing a bigger lad, rather than losing anyone.

"A goalscorer is important to any team and I want Will to feel settled here so he can help us move forward. The chairman has made it clear that there is no need to sell him.

"It will take a while for the team to adapt to my ideas and I hadn't been able to work with them prior to the game. We had to change things because we weren't putting enough pressure on the ball in the first half, but bringing Jo on certainly helped and when we took the lead everything seemed to be going perfectly.

"Perhaps we were a bit naive in sitting back to try and defend the advantage. I was disappointed not to win, but a point is a start and something to build on."
