Bristol Rovers striker Will Hoskins may miss Tuesday's trip to Tranmere in an effort to boost his fitness.Rovers are one point off bottom spot in League One with 12 games remaining, and while Hoskins is desperate to play he is struggling with a hamstring injury.

"It's been a long season and it has taken a toll," Hoskins, who rates his fitness at 60%, told BBC Radio Bristol.

"It has been playing on my mind and I want to get out there, but is it good for us?"

Hoskins, who described it as a "Catch-22" situation, has scored 15 goals for the Pirates in 33 league matches and his form is seen as crucial to the club's fight for survival starting at Prenton Park on Tuesday.

He explained: "It's frustrating because I want to give my all and for the last two games I've been trying but it's been hard and the body is finding it difficult.

"Maybe if I miss one game it might help me be fit for the rest of the season rather than just trying to push through it.

"It's always a tough one for me as I always want to play, no matter what. I just want to give it my full and even if sometimes I'm at 60% I find it hard to say no. I just want to be out there fighting for the team."

Rovers have lost eight of their last nine, with a solitary home win at home to Oldham the one bright moment in their slide into relegation trouble.

Hoskins added: "I feel what the fans are feeling. They're putting their faith in us and we're not coming up with what they want.

"We've only got ourselves to blame. It's coming towards the end and we need to give it a real fight."
