Rovers to be deducted points?

The FA are considering how to punish Bristol Rovers following reports of missiles being thrown at Oxford goalkeeper Chris Tardiff on Saturday.

It is believed that disposable lighters were thrown at Tardiff by fans in the Blackthorn End during the 2-0 win for Rovers against manager Ian Atkins' former side.

Bristol Rovers were given a fine in 2000 when fans invaded the pitch and attacked Stoke City goalkeeper, Gavin Ward, and warned by the FA that future misbehavior of fans would result in a points deduction, however the suspended points deduction was only imposed for a period of two years.

Referee Phil Prosser reported Saturdays incident in his official match report to the FA, and a decision on the punishment Rovers will recieve is expected shortly.
