The 25-year-old midfielder returned from suspension in the 4-2 defeat against Brighton at the weekend but suffered a kick on his toe and will face a late fitness check before the game.
Central defender Dave McCracken and captain Stuart Campbell also face a race against time to be fit following hamstring problems.
The pair both limped out of the 2-1 defeat to MK Dons last week and subsequently missed the defeat at table-topping Brighton.
Elsewhere, striker Jo Kuffour and midfielder Ben Swallow will be hoping for a recall to the starting line-up following their late substitute appearances against the Seagulls.
