Bristol Rovers midfielder Dave Savage is expected to sign for Boston United in the coming days after the Pilgrims offered the former Irish international a 2-year deal.

Despite re-establishing himself in the Bristol Rovers first team over recent weeks, Savage had requested a transfer in order to move nearer his home in Northampton.

Rovers' boss Ian Atkins has indicated that he feels the squad is overloaded in midfield and would welcome Savage's move in order to free up money for wages.

Aaron Lescott is nearing the end of his contract, and Atkins may also wish to offer Liam Burns a permanent deal, in the which case the shortfall in the budget would be filled b Savage's departure.
