Trollope sees room for improvement

Boss Paul Trollope admits Bristol Rovers still have plenty to work on despite claiming a 2-1 win over Notts County. Will Hoskins capitalised on poor marking to head Rovers in front from Carl Regan's fifth-minute cross. The Nottingham-born striker, who spent most of his schoolboy days with County, added the second with a confident low finish 11 minutes after the break when presented with possession by centre-back Krystian Pearce. Ben Davies gave County hope by shooting home from close range after 87 minutes, after a poor back-pass from Byron Anthony, and the visitors might have levelled in a couple of injury-time scrambles. Rovers boss Paul Trollope admitted his side almost threw it away. He said: "We got sloppy in the closing stages and, apart from the goal we conceded, there were other poor decisions taken. But overall I'm very pleased. We got off the blocks quickly with the first goal and played well for a period in the second half against 10 men, which we haven't always done in the past. I thought we would get the third goal and win comfortably, but we missed a couple of chances, and it didn't work out that way. "Byron Anthony had just been announced as man of the match over the tannoy when he made his mistake. I think I'll tell the announcer to keep quiet in future. "Will Hoskins took his goals very well. We are asking a lot of him with the role he has been given this season, but he is an intelligent player and able to handle it."
