Trollope unhappy with defence

"To fall behind so early was a major blow for us, but then we managed to steady the ship in the first half," said Trollope.

"But our Achilles heel over the last six or seven weeks surfaced again - one cross into our box and a corner and we lost the game.

"We were aware of Charlton's threats and strengths but some of our defending lacked discipline in the opening period. We were selling ourselves and over-eager to win the ball.

"Our response after that was good and I thought we grew as the first half went on. We managed to get a couple of goals but we needed an extra one if we were to go on and win the game.

"We thought we had the impetus to go on and win it but their keeper made a couple of saves and we missed a couple of chances.

"The effort and commitment was fine and some of our forward play was of a good quality, but the details of our defending wasn't right at times and that cost us the game.

"We feel in general play we can match most teams in the division, but games are won and lost in both boxes. In the oppositions' box we are okay and scoring a decent number of goals, but we have major issues at the other end.

"Whether you are playing a team from the top or bottom of the division, you can't defend like we did.

"We have things we need to improve, and it may need a change of personnel."
