Savage to leave Rovers?

Former Republic of Ireland international Dave Savage is believed to have requested a transfer. The central midfield player has slipped down the pecking order following Ian Atkins' arrival as manager and the subsequent signings of Paul Trollope, Stuart Campbell, James Hunt and Craig Disley during the summer. Savage has failed to gain a first team spot and has had to make do with substitute appearances this term.

Last weeks signing of Stockport midfielder Aaron Lescott on a six month deal seems to have destroyed Savage's first team ambitions, and although Savage remained on the subs bench over the bank holiday weekend, assistant boss Kevan Broadhurst has told the official website this was only due to Lescott's lack of fitness.

It is also believed that Savage would prefer to live closer to his Northamptonshire home, although unless the MK Dons or Northampton come in for him he may have to settle for non-league football.
