Most of the second half at the Memorial Stadium was played in a downpour which left the pitch increasingly waterlogged with neither side able to dig out a telling shot and the only surprise was that referee Parkes didn't abandon the game as the ball continually got stuck on the heavy surface.
After winning at Leyton Orient last week Rovers had hopes of a first home win but spent the first half on the back foot. The Imps attacked with width through Derek Asamoah and Paul Mayo but missed a killer instinct in front of goal as Gary Birch kept the home defenders busy without producing the finish.
Early on Rovers Keeper Scott Shearer failed to come for a free kick and Birch went in with a header but was ruled offside and moments later he spurned an even better chance when his header lacked power and was scrambeled away for a corner.
Another corner saw the imposing figure of Lee Beevers running across the Rovers defence and he sent a header just outside Shearer's left-hand post.
While Lincoln were passing up their chances, nothing was seen of Rovers in attack although this changed at the break when Richard Walker replaced Jefferson Louis.
Walker's header shortly after his introduction from an Ali Gibb free-kick skidded off the top side of the bar and that gave the home side renewed belief and they went on to win there first corners and to dominate the second half without being able to break the deadlock.
After Rovers ended all square in 21 of their matches last season, Lincoln have now drawn five of their opening seven games and it looks like it could be a long hard season for both sides if they continue to lack the quality needed in front of goal.
