Promotion rivals Darlington and Bristol Rovers were made to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw.

Rovers could have leapfrogged the Quakers into the play-off zone with victory in the North-East, but a penalty from Simon Johnson earned the home side a share of the spoils after Junior Agogo had given the visitors a 68th minute lead.

With three minutes played, after a spell of pressure from the visitors, Rovers skipper James Hunt found space on the edge of the Quakers area, but he could only volley high over the bar.

At the other end former Huddersfield striker Akpo Sodje sent his low effort trickling wide of Scott Shearer's goal.

Sodje then failed to trouble Shearer with another tame effort in the ninth minute as the home side took hold of the game.

Quakers keeper Sam Russell was called upon for the first time moments later, comfortably saving Lewis Haldane's weak shot from distance.

While there was little to separate two well-organised teams, it was the home side who looked more likely to score, although Clark Keltie should have done better when he scuffed his shot straight at Shearer.

Rovers were fortunate not to fall a goal behind midway through the first half when Shelton Martis headed wide from Carlos Logan's corner.

As the Quakers continued to dominate, Joe Kendrick turned past his marker on the edge of the area before firing low into the arms of Shearer.

But the best chance of the half fell to Rovers striker Agogo, who saw his low drive tipped around the post by Russell.

And, after Matt Clarke was dispossessed by Richard Walker in the 53rd minute, Martis produced a superb last-gasp challenge to prevent Agogo from scoring.

But Agogo made sure in the 68th minute, shrugging off a challenge, before firing low under Russell.

However, Rovers' lead was short-lived as Johnson levelled from the penalty spot in the 75th minute, after Kyle Lafferty was brought down by Shearer.
