Leyton Orient stretched their unbeaten home run to ten matches, but their failure to secure all three points just about ended their outside play-off hopes.

It was Rovers who stole the lead on the stroke of half time when Paul Tait headed home a right wing cross from Lee Matthews.

But Orient hit back at the start of the second half and substitute Jabo Ibehre fired a leveller with his first touch after good work from David Hunt.

When Rovers defender Ijah Anderson was sent off shortly afterwards the visitors had to defend doggedly for the final 35 minutes.

During that time Rovers hardly got out of their own half, but survived the battering to grab a point.

But they lived dangerously as Orient went close to winning the game on several occasions.

Wayne Purser and Ibehre were both denied by visiting keeper Kevin Miller, while Ibehre and fellow substitute Chris Tate both had efforts knocked off the line.

It just wasn't Orient's day as Tom Newey fired against the post in the first and second half and they came up against Miller in inspired form.

Orient manager Martin Ling admitted: "We bombarded them in the second half and threw everything at them including the kitchen sink, but we still only came away with a point.

"But while I was pleased with our second-half show I didn't think we asked them enough questions in the first 45 minutes.

"It's going to be difficult now to make the play-offs. We don't quite need snookers yet, but we are not that far away from it." Rovers boss Phil Bater said: "I think we deserved a point and I was pleased with our first-half performance.

"After Ijah was sent off we put ourselves under tremendous pressure but we defended well and there's no problem with the commitment.

"Goalkeeper Kevin Miller was magnificent and made two world-class saves - I think he should do the lottery tomorrow."
